Memberhship & Sustaining Membership
All women of the participating churches are considered members of Church Women United -- and each woman who takes part in CWU in any way is a part of the movement.
Those who wish to help sustain the movement are encouraged to take a further step: become a Sustaining Member for $6. Sustaining Membes receive the local newsletter "Flutterings" along with publicity throughout the year and a copy of the annual Yearbook. We send $5 of each membership to the State CWU for each member's subscription to the state quarterly newsletter, "The Missouri Church Woman".
Sustaining Memberships are due in January and February for each calendar year, please. Please pay at the January or February meeting or send money with name, church affiliation, address, zip, phone number to the Sustaining Membership Chair or the Treasurer (see addresses on Leadership page). Checks should be made to 'Church Women United of Columbia'. Updates on address changes should be sent regularly so the mailing list can be kept current.
CWU Finances
Each participating or 'member' congregation is invited to make an annual contribution to support the Columbia Church Women United budget of programs and projects. This money should be sent, as early in the year as possible, to the CWU Treasurer with the check clearly designated, please. Some churches gauge the amount of their gift by the size of their membership; others by their number of women members. All give as generously as they can -- because they value what CWU is and does!
An offering is received at the Annual Meeting and individuals may give "love gifts" into the basket offering at other meetings. All Celebration Day offerings are sent in for their designated usages with only 1/2 of May Fellowship remaining in the local treasury (see Celebrations). There are also various fundraisers such as garage sale, auction, white elephant sale, etc. for local projects.
